I had two logical choices where to place my storage tank. I could place it at the existing water well, about 100 feet from the house, or I could place it adjacent to the house and minimize the amount of trenching and pipe required. The problem with placing in next to the house was the slope of the ground where the tank would have to be placed. The major consideration about using the area near the well was the number of existing underground utility lines that would have to be crossed to run pipe to that area. There were good arguments on both sides but I eventually chose to site the tank at the house.
Two tasks had to be accomplished before the tank could be installed: 1) the trenches for the collection manifold had to be dug and 2) the site had to be leveled, requiring a small retaining wall.
This view shows the main collection manifold trench running down the length of the house. The shop building is in the background.
