RIMS Pump

The pump is a Little Giant 3-MD-MT-AC which has a shut-off head of 16.2 feet and a max operating temperature of 200 degrees F.  Recirculation flow rate is controlled with a ball valve on the outlet of the RIMS heater.

The three blue-handled valves on the mash tun outlet manifold control the source of fluid to the pump inlet (either wort or sparge water) and can be used to fill the tun from the HLT.  The yellow-handled valve drains the mash tun into the boiling kettle.

The open pipe on the left in the photo connects to the HLT.  Sparging is done through the RIMS heater using the return manifold as a sparge arm.

The return manifold is made of 1/2" copper pipe and fittings.  It is held together with brass cotter pins for ease of cleaning.
